POTHOLES
Potholes continue to be an issue and reports are being received of damage being done to vehicles.
The Parish Council understands from Hampshire County Council that the clean up after the February storms has taken priority.
Meanwhile it is important to continue to report potholes which is an easy process that anyone can follow. Just go to the HCC website, click on ‘Transport & Roads’, then ‘Road Maintenance’ and lastly ‘Report a Pothole’. Then follow the instructions which include providing the location on an interactive map and describing the size of the pothole.
DOG FOULING
It is disappointing to note that dog fouling remains an issue in and around the village.
In 2020 Test Valley Borough Council made a Public Spaces Protection Order in respect of Dog Control. This makes it an offence to allow a dog to defecate on land, to which the public has full or part access, without removing the faeces.
The penalty for this offence is a fixed fine of £100 and prosecution if the fine is unpaid after three months.
There is absolutely no excuse for not clearing up after your dog, especially on the playing fields where dogs are regularly seen running around unsupervised. The Parish Council will appoint representatives to regularly monitor this and will challenge and report anyone seen committing an offence.
And if you do use a ‘poo bag’ either use the bin at the school car park or take it home with you. The hedge at the flower meadow has recently been cut and over thirty full ‘poo bags’ were found to have been thrown into it.
If anyone has any suggestions as to how best to combat this issue, the Parish Council would love to hear from you.
